Prior to his visit to China the Russian
President Vladimir Putin has kept his word by visiting the
renovated town of Lensk almost completely ruined last summer.
In the morning the builders of this northern town were receiving
the words of thanks from the country President and later
on the same day Mr. Morozkin, the vice-president of "Alrosa"
company responsible for the reconstruction in Lensk passed
the words of gratitude on behalf of Sakha-Yakutia president
Mikhail Nikolaev and honoured the General Director of "Polet"
Mr. A. S. Karpov with a diploma of excellence. What is there
so common between these two events?
As Alexander Morozkin said handing this high award: "The
fact that the builders made their promise true and provided
town dwellers with hundreds of ready-made apartments is
50% due to air company "Polet", which provided
the deliveries of all the required cargo in large volumes
for the shortest possible time.
For the first time in the airline history three AN-124-100s
were used in the period of a few months simultaneously.
They have performed 63 flights, hauled 6 thousand tons of
cargo from India, Italy and Russian cities for about four
months.
These are: quick-assembly houses, bulldozers and lorries.
The air carrier has even managed to bring a boiler-house.
They say in Russia: "We would never be happy unless
disaster occurred". In spite of such a severe climate
heat has never come so early to Lensk houses.
It's the professionals that are working here. That explains
the fact that the company won an annual award "The
Wings of Russia" for a number of years. And, during
an exhibition in Geneva in 2000 "Polet" was awarded
with "Gold quality star" medal.
