Polet Cargo Airlines recently completed
another successful charter flight with charter broker specialist
Chapman Freeborn France. The operation took place in Italy
and required the special outsize cargo to be airlifted to
Los Angeles for Wilson Logistics France who were overseeing
the operation for the Sidel Group, care of one of Americas
biggest soft drinks company.
The special outsize
cargo, weighing up to 80 tonne and 470cbm of cargo volume,
comprising of machinery combining a blow moulder and filler
& capper - this machinery is designed to blow &
prepare empty bottles. The outsize cargo also included a
26 tonne single piece of equipment, measuring 590x400x383cm,
which required the use of a special heavy lift crane.
The special cargo
was transported by road to Milan Intercontinental Airport
in Italy where the consignment was loaded onto one of Polet’s
Antonov 124-100 aircraft. The special crane lowered the
cargo on to Polet’s revolutionary six platform configurable
rail loading system enabling quick and easy loading into
the cargo hold. The ‘six platform’ loading system
is based on a series of linked metal rails that butt together
to form a continuous ramp with built-in rollers that extend
inside the aircraft’s cargo cabin and facilitates
the loading and unloading of extra-heavy one-piece cargo
loads weighing up to 100 tonnes.
A qualified Loadmaster
from Polet liaised on site to make sure the clients transportation
requirements for the outsize cargo were met. The Loadmaster’s
technical expertise and experience ensured the whole operation
went smoothly and to the complete satisfaction of the client.
Polet’s experienced ground crew completed the loading
of the 80 tonne outsize cargo in just over 15 hours and
within the scheduled load time.
The speed and efficiency of Polet’s technical ground
crew more than delighted the representatives of Wilson Logistics
and a spokesperson for the company said “I am pleased
to be able to say that Polet have shown themselves to be
efficient, professional and very helpful”. Stéphane
Charpentier Sales Manager for Chapman Freeborn France also
commented “ This was another very successful contract
and we expect more flights for Polet’s An-124-100
into this area."
The special outsize
shipment arrived in Los Angeles on time and Polet completed
the unloading without a problem.
Once again this successful
operation demonstrated the professional attitude and capabilities
of all Polet staff involved in the operation, especially
the aircraft technical crew who are responsible for taking
critical decisions within stringent time scales.
Polet Cargo Airlines
continues to promote the unique capabilities of its Antonov
124-100 freighter aircraft in the outsize air cargo transportation
market place and its fleet of seven Antonov 124-100 aircraft,
with an eighth due to be ready for action mid 2004, makes
it a heavyweight champion in the transportation of super-heavy
and outsize air cargo.
